Caring for you during COVID-19

Despite the current challenging and ever-changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19, at Struan Lodge we are working hard to keep everything as normal as possible for our residents, their friends and family members. Our number one priority is keeping everyone safe while enabling as much communication as we can.

You might not be aware, but our staff are currently receiving weekly testing for COVID-19 to ensure anyone working at the home always remains safe to carry out their duties.

As regards any new admission to the home, residents will require to have two negative tests prior to the agreed admission date. Any other new admissions will require to have at least one negative test. 

All new residents will be required to isolate for 14 days, however at the home we use this time to help our residents familiarise themselves with the home and the team. They are greatly supported by our staff every day including set up of activities to make the most of their time.

In addition to this, our new activities lounge (which allows for a maximum of 2 to 3 residents) means social distancing restrictions can be adhered to enabling residents to have plenty of things they can look forward to and get involved with.

At present, we are on visitation lockdown which means there are no visits within the home, however you can still visit your loved one outdoors via window visits. We are providing residents with a tannoy and giving family and friends a speaker, which helps with communication for residents who may have hearing difficulties or quiet voices. Online communication has also been instrumental in keeping families in touch.

 

Struan Lodge’s Home Manager, Tabatha Jacome-Sturge explained: “We have worked tirelessly to implement all recommendations and guidance from Health Protection Scotland, and I’m pleased to confirm that we have no cases of COVID-19 within the home.

“We will continue to support our staff to test for the virus on a weekly basis. Staff will also be provided with PPE.

"We have a robust booking system in place so that garden visits can take place, and we fully support any online communication as we understand staying in touch with one another as never been more important.

“We understand that this is a difficult and frustrating time for everyone, but we want to provide assurances that these measures are in place to ensure maximum safety. We greatly appreciate everyone’s understanding and co-operation.
