Our warm and welcoming care home has two floors with a wide range of on-site facilities and a dedicated team who offers care to older people who benefit from around-the-clock support. We are proud to be regulated by the Care Inspectorate who are an independent body that inspects and regulates residential care homes and nursing homes in Scotland.

We are proud to be able to offer people living with dementia a safe, caring, and supportive environment, where dementia care is available at all times by a knowledgable and dedicated team of staff. 

Our care home staff regularly receive comprehensive training in understanding and managing all aspects of nursing dementia care to ensure they are up to date with the latest methods. As well as around-the-clock care, we like to support our resident’s overall wellbeing and health by offering a variety of dementia-friendly activities and therapies.

Nursing Care Home in Edinburgh

Nursing care is offered to those who require around-the-clock care from a team of qualified Nurses. As well as providing nursing care to those who are elderly, have physical disabilities, and have high dependency needs, we also provide specialist care to people with conditions such as Huntingtons’ Disease, Motor Neurones Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. 

Prior to moving into our home in Edinburgh, we offer all prospective residents and their loved ones the opportunity to come in and see our care home and to talk with our Home Manager and senior care team. This is so that we can offer our expert guidance and assess whether we can meet your health needs and personal requirements and help them make an informed decision as to whether we are the right care home for them. Once a resident at Struan Lodge Care Home, we will create a personalised care plan that is regularly monitored to best reflect your individual needs.

Respite Care Home in Edinburgh

At our care home in Edinburgh, we also offer respite care which is a short-term care solution for those who need a temporary break from caregiving or as a period of rehabilitation for those who have recently suffered from an illness, injury, or an operation in hospital. 

We understand that both caregivers and those who require care can sometimes feel burnt out. A period of respite in our care home ensures that care is offered 24/7 and residents can also benefit from the full range of facilities and social opportunities that all our other residents receive. Whether it’s for a couple of weeks or a few months, at Struan Lodge Care Home, we are more than happy to welcome you into our home.

We provide short-term respite care for anyone who requires it, with a minimum respite stay of 3 weeks.

Regardless of the time of year, their is so much just waiting to be explored in Edinburgh.

At Struan Lodge Care Home, we go to great lengths to make sure that all of our residents make the most of life in Edinburgh and the local community. Situated on a residential street, we are conveniently positioned near neighbourhoods such as Westfield and Slateford, which means amenities such as public transport, local shops, restaurants, and banks are all easily accessible to those living at our care home. All of this and more can also be explored in the heart of Edinburgh which is less than a 20-minutes drive away from our home.

We regularly organise excursions into the capital city and encourage relatives to make use of the excellent transport links we have available to us and go on trips too. Our residents and families can enjoy so much history in Edinburgh, such as visits to Edinburgh Castle and learning about the soldiers, Kings, and Queens that stood before them. There is also plenty of things to do with kids, such as a visit to Camera Obscura & World of Illusions where there are 100+ interactive exhibits for all ages. You will never be short of places to eat and drink in Edinburgh, as it is home to an eclectic mix of bars and eateries.

Lovers of animals and wildlife don’t have far to go as Struan Lodge Care Home is situated just a 7-minute walk from RZSS Edinburgh Zoo. Famous for homing Penguins and Giant Pandas, this renowned zoo in Edinburgh makes for a perfect day out no matter what your age or what you’re interested in. Nature lovers can also enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Saughton Park & Gardens or Corstorphine Hill Viewpoint, both ideal for walks, picnics, flora, and fauna, and just getting out in the fresh air. Those who enjoy both playing and spectating sports also do not have far to go as both Edinburgh Rugby Stadium and Carrick Knowe Golf Course are just a short distance away.
