Daily Activities Programme

Our dedicated team works hard to provide a variety of activities so that residents have all they need to live a full and varied life. We encourage all residents to keep doing exactly what makes them happy, whether it’s reading a book in the garden or participating in an Arts & Crafts session as well as taking on something new.

Our Activity Coordinator plans weekly activities that are both stimulating and accessible, such as sing-alongs, baking and movie days. Our Programme also provides a variety of activities and alternative therapies for those with memory loss, such as memory boxes and reminiscing. In addition, organise numerous excursions to popular attractions in the Balgreen area and have fantastic relationships with the local community.

Promoting Independence

Every day, we work hard to create an environment in which residents can develop positive experiences. We place a high value on our residents’ ability to make decisions and manage their own lives, and we endeavour to provide them with as much independence as possible. Thanks to our skilled Activity Coordinators, residents have numerous opportunities each week to participate in a variety of exciting activities, either individually or in a group environment.

We endeavour to cater to a wide range of interests for residents of all ages and abilities at Struan Lodge Care Home. Whether residents have limited mobility, are living with dementia or require assistance with everyday tasks, our Activities Programme provides a diverse choice of activities that is accessible to all. Pet therapy, arts and crafts and bingo are just a few of the activities available, all of which are designed to keep residents engaged and laughing.

At Struan Lodge Care Home we enjoy giving residents the opportunity to explore the local community. Local attractions include: Edinburgh Zoo, the local theatre and local public gardens such as Saughton Park.

We regularly invite entertainers such as singers and musicians into our home, to perform to both residents and staff. We love nothing more than watching residents enjoy a performance, and find themselves singing along or tapping their feet. We also enjoy and encourage visits from furry friends via Pet Therapy, where residents take great joy in petting and feeding pets.

We believe that relocating to a new home should not imply a change in lifestyle, and we strive to provide a cheerful and stimulating atmosphere for our residents. We take pride in providing a diverse and inclusive choice of activities that allow our residents to get the most out of their stay while also reaping the mental and social benefits that a stimulating activities programme can deliver.
