Summer Gardening at Struan Lodge

Thanks to the warmer weather, we’ve been able to make the most of our beautiful outdoor environment and spend some time gardening at Struan Lodge Care Home in Edinburgh. Our resident green thumbs have planted a variety of seeds that, after plenty of water, sunshine and care, will bloom into bright colours for our space. For every member of the Struan Lodge family, a vibrant seasonal garden boosts spirits and provides a peaceful place to relax. 

Residents who enjoy gardening have the opportunity to continue their favourite hobby with other like-minded residents. It also provides light physical activity, creative expression and a sense of achievement from caring for young plants. Even residents who are new to gardening are given the chance to try their hand with tools, gloves and sun hats provided. Our accessible flower beds are raised off the ground to ensure that people with limited mobility can have the same experience. 

A busy and colourful garden benefits everyone by encouraging time spent in the fresh air, whether it's quietly enjoying a book or spending quality time with family and friends. We’ve loved seeing residents enjoy tending our gardens this summer, and we can’t wait to see the new flowers bloom in the coming weeks.
