An Eventful August at Struan Lodge
August has been a busy but enjoyable month for both staff and residents at Struan Lodge Care Home. We have been spoilt with some lovely, dry sunny days and we’ve certainly made the most of them with fun afternoons and evenings spent in our beautiful garden.
In true Scottish style, the blue skies can often turn grey very quickly with imminent rain approaching. But a little drizzle will never dampen our spirits - in these instances, we kept ourselves busy indoors with a variety of activities for our residents to take part in. Most recently, we had fun with our exercise classes, reminiscence sessions, and jigsaws.
Group events provide a great opportunity for residents to interact with one another while establishing and growing new relationships. A fun and active lifestyle help to ensure residents are happy, engaged, and mobile.
Our wonderful Activities Coordinators regularly plan a number of accessible activities and events for our residents to partake in each month. Activities are always varied and designed to encourage independence, increase motivation and provide our residents with a rich and fulfilled lifestyle that is suited entirely to them.
Not only is the team continually looking to improve and present residents with uplifting activities to keep their minds and bodies active, but they are also working hard to improve the home itself.
This month alone has seen huge improvements including two brand new sluices installed in the home and we are now decorating our vestibule. The renovation at our care home in Edinburgh doesn't stop there as the visitors' bathroom is next on the hit list! It’s important to us that residents feel safe, happy, and proud to call Struan Lodge their home.
